Diminished Relevance in a Changing World

Slowly, our international role and relevance has diminished as Canada has stepped back from not only its traditional role as a recognized and well-regarded international peacekeeper but also as a primary source of traditional raw material exports. Unfortunately, this happened at about the same time the global economy has matured to a point where goods, services and intellectual capital have replaced wheat, ore, fish and other natural resources as the primary engines of economic prosperity.
